There aren't many places in the San Fernando Valley that I'd go out of my way to patron and relax. I'll usually go out to Los Angeles to imbibe and have fun but there's one special place in the valley that I used to call a second home.
I was introduced to Bar One Beer & Wine Parlour by an ex-girlfriend many years ago. She has great taste in a lot of things from fashion to art and places to have some good fun. We were going out one night and said he happened upon a place that I would love so trusting her judgement, we went and she was right. I fell in love with the place.
It's a nice cozy spot in the Valley Village area of North Hollywood. The walls are decorated in a vivid red damask pattern and they serve some of the best craft beers in Los Angeles. Sometimes they have special nights when they have a DJ play some tunes, or themed karaoke nights (Smiths/Morrissey night being my favorite). I used to religiously go on Wednesdays when they had vinyl night where patrons would bring their own vinyl records and the bartenders would play one side of your record in its entirety.
It's been a while since my last visit and I should do better to show my face there. The bartenders are all super cool and the owners are just lovely people. This photo was taken during their first Oktoberfest event before it was crowded by attendees.
